Governor attends International Hindi Conference

Governor Anusuiya Uikey attended the International Hindi Conference organised to commemorate the 115th birth anniversary of national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar by Vishwa Hindi Parishad (VHP) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the present situation of Manipur and the continuous efforts for relief and rehabilitation for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) taking refuge in various relief camps in the state since the ethnic clash started on May 3.She reiterated that initiatives are being taken up by the central and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Uikey said that Hindi is one of the oldest languages of the world which is spoken by millions of people all over the world, while adding it is also one of the six languages officially recognised by the United Nations.
The Governor further lauded the initiative of VHP for encouraging seekers of Hindi language in the spirit of public welfare and to upgrade the language and keep it moving at a steady pace.
The organisation has been playing its role for the last decade by gathering litterateurs, Hindi officials, employees and the public oh one platform and motivating them in the service of Hindi propagation.
The Council honours the Hindi lovers with national level awards every year to promote their service to Hindi and appreciate their contribution, she noted.
The Governor also stressed that Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was one of the major creators of Hindi literature who shaped Indian society, culture and philosophy through his works and such referred to as 'National Poet'.
The hymn sung as a form of national unity is Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram were written by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, she stated.
In 1952, Ramdhari was elected to the Rajya Sabha where he served as MP for two terms.
He was the vice chancellor of Bhagalpur University and later the Government of India appointed him as its Hindi advisor.
Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Award for the book 'Sanskriti Ke Char Adhyay' and the Jnanpith Award for the poetry work 'Urvashi'.
Government of India decorated him with Padma Bhushan' and a postage stamp issued in his memory.
Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh president & spiritual Head Dr Swami Chidanand Maharaj; former MP Dr Arun Kumar; VHP president Vinay Bhardwaj; general secretary Dr Bipin Kumar; Arvind Kumar Singh, grandson of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Vishvahindi Parishad co-convener Deepak Thakur were also present at the conference.
