Thoubal, September 20 2023:
In the midst of the mayhem prevailing in the State, Thoubal District Congress Committee (TDCC) raised the question whether the Government exists for the welfare of the people or to inflict more pain and suffering to the people.
TDCC President N Lukhoi Singh raised the above concern while addressing media persons during a press meet held at TDCC office at Thoubal Athokpam today.
He maintained that a Government works for the well-being of its people by protecting them and their properties.
'On the contrary, the incumbent BJP Government has caused immense suffering to the people by adding more woes in their lives through various means', he alleged.

Highlighting the plights of the common people, Lukhoi mentioned that prices of gas, petroleum products and essential commodities have skyrocketed during the regime of BJP Government thereby making it extremely difficult for the common people to make ends meet.
Vital needs such as health care facilities and price of medicines have increased manifold adding more woes to the already suffering people, he added.
He accused that 'the BJP Government is looting the people by making false promises and is misleading the masses' .
He appealed to the masses not to fall prey to the false and unfounded promises of the Government so as to save the Nation.
Lukhoi also maintained that 'the State is engulfed in a crisis due to faulty measures of the Government' .
Speaking at the occasion, TDCC General Secretary Yumnam Basanta Singh highlighted that the relevant authorities have failed to take up positive measures to resolve the communal conflict in the State.
Stating that Manipur is burning for over four months now, Basanta said that it is unfortunate that the Government has failed to address and solve the crisis.
He also maintained that the arrest of five village volunteers by the State Police is not called for in view of the prevailing tense situation and urged for their immediate release.
Taking a dig at the Union Government's recent decision of slashing the price of LPG cylinders/cooking gas by Rs 200, Basanta termed that such an act as an attempt to pacify the people ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 .
The decision was taken after facing criticisms over unreasonable price hikes of household items especially in the price of LPG cylinders which crossed over thousand rupees, he added.
