Citing the unrest situation in the state, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) has laid down dos and don'ts for strict compliance during the upcoming Diwali by Gorkhas of Manipur.
In a statement, AMGSU announced complete ban on selling fire crackers and fireworks by any individual belonging to Gorkha community.
To extend solidarity to the outcry for ending the ongoing violence, the union also imposed complete restriction on Deusi-Bhailo, a traditional cultural activity, use of loud speakers and lighting (using colourful lights etc.,) in Gorkha inhabited villages.
It also cautioned against gambling (dice) in order to avoid unwanted incidents and appealed to the state and central governments to invite the warring communities for holding talks to end the crisis at the soonest possible.
Recalling that Gorkhas of Manipur have taken the pledge to support the state government in its war on drugs, the union also warned entire Gorkha community against involvement in illegal poppy cultivation.
