CFC, AMPL appeal to forgo celebrations

Imphal, November 11 2023:
The Committee of Forward Clubs (CFC), Thongju and Apunba Meira Paibee Lup (AMPL) Thonju held a meeting today and resolved to forgo any forms of celebrations like Diwali, Ningol Chakkouba, New year and so on this year to show solidarity to the victims of the communal crisis in the State.
A press release by the secretary of CFC Thongju said that the meeting decided to reaffirm the stand taken on October 11 last during the ceremony of offering tributes to the martyrs of the conflict.
Expressing discontentment over the inability of the Government to trace the whereabouts of two young students Ningthoujam Anthony and Maibam Avinash who went missing on November 5, the meeting also resolved to pledge full support to the activities of JAC formed in connection with the missing case.
The meeting also discussed the need of staying united and to fight collectively to bring peace and normalcy in the State.
The decision to forego celebrations have been taken up considering the immense difficulties faced by all sections of the State due to the communal crisis which first erupted on May causing a trail of tragedies hindering normal functioning and affecting thousands of civilians.
