Media sensitisation programme conducted

Taking note of the grave situation in Manipur, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo has appealed to every journalist to play a key role in the peace building initiative.
He made the appeal during a media sensitisation programme held at Manipur Press Club today as part of the year long golden jubilee celebration of All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) .
Speaking as the chief guest, Dingo acknowledged that reporters have been working round the clock amid the conflict and covering what actually is happening in Manipur even by putting their lives at risk.
He lauded the media for keeping the people informed,
The Minister continued that people should be aware of the schemes taken up by the Government to take the benefit of it.

Saying that there should be understanding between the Government and the people to develop a prosperous Manipur, Dingo appealed to the media persons to play the central role in disseminating information about Government schemes.
Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam spoke about the measures taken up to implement Manipur State Drug Policy on Psychoactive Substance, 2019 and Transgender Welfare Board while AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam said that the golden jubilee celebration of the Union began on September 16, 2023 and it will continue till September 16, 2024 .
Technical sessions on "Welfare programmes of children and women" and "Welfare programmes of aged and persons with disabilities" were also held as part of the programme.
