Imphal, January 10 2024:
Stating that it is the duty of the State police to enforce law and order everywhere in Manipur, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has urged the Government and all relevant authorities to take up legal actions against Hill Tribal Council (HTC) and Kuki organisations which demand removal of State police from the border town Moreh.
COCOMI, in a statement signed by its media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom, continued that the president of HTC Victor must be booked and arrested immediately for openly speaking against the deployment of State police at Moreh.
In particular, COCOMI maintained that HTC and Kuki organisations viz CoTU, ITLF and KIM Chandel opposing deployment of State police at Moreh is a clear indication of them supporting the Myanmar based terrorists.
The Committee said that they condemn the statement given by HTC president on deployment of State force to Lieutenant General HS Sahi who went to Moreh yesterday to review the law and order situation at the border town.
The HTC president demanding withdrawal of State police and Meetei police officers at Moreh during a meeting of a few communities at Moreh yesterday is redundant, COCOMI said and maintained that what Victor (HTC president) demanded can be applicable only in a lawless State.
It is the responsibility of the State police to enforce law and order, the Committee said and claimed that the demand of HTC president reflects the aspiration of narco terrorists, illegal immigrants and their associates to dominate Moreh town.
COCOMI reminded that many Assam Rifles and BSF personnel have also been killed in the attacks of narco-terrorists.
Stating that Myanmar based terrorists and their frontal organisations have been attacking the State police at Moreh to keep the border town on the boil and make the place their base, COCOMI said that the unresponsiveness of the Central forces guarding the border areas despite the hostility of Kuki narco terrorists is very questionable.
The Committee reminded that the Kuki narco-terrorists have been attacking State police at Moreh using heavy and sophisticated weapons regularly since December 30, 2023 .
Claiming that HTC, CoTU and ITLF have been acting like the mouthpiece of Kuki narco-terrorists, COCOMI urged the Central and State Government to control these Kuki organisations and HTC who openly defy the law of the land.
Isn't it late for the Central forces to change their view on Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, COCOMI asked and urged all concerned to check the excesses of Kuki SoO groups.
COCOMI forewarned that the loyalty shown by Kuki militants groups towards the Central forces is only a lie.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and NIA have already made it clear that the violence in Manipur was instigated by illegal immigrants, COCOMI reminded and added that the violent campaign of illegal immigrants and Kuki militant groups under SoO pact was implemented after rigorous preparation to break Manipur apart.
Questioning the role of Central forces in Manipur violence, COCOMI asked whether all the responsibilities to drive away well armed Kuki militants and illegal immigrants have been given to the State force only.
There is also suspicion about the Central forces supporting the illegal immigrants, COCOMI said and asked how the Central Government sees Manipur as.
