Minister clarifies on Anganwadi centre fund misuse

Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo has issued clarification over report in some newspapers regarding misuse of funds meant for purchasing furniture for Anganwadi centres stating that the issue cropped up due to communication gap.
Addressing media persons at his official quarters, here, on Wednesday, minister Dingo said that apart from table and chair, the component of furniture under the guidelines of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 scheme also include utensils, mat, carpet and others.
This has been clearly mentioned in page number 41 of the scheme guideline.
He further informed that the components of furniture should be provided only once in five years.
However, due to certain issues, 50-60 percent of the goods under furniture component was provided under phase 1 in 2021 and the remaining delivered in 2023 .
The carpets and mats distributed to Anganwadi centres were under the said scheme.
The minister also assured that if at all there are Anganwadi centres which have not received carpets and mats due to the present crisis in the state, instructions will be given to distribute the items at the earliest.
