Association to update potato, onion rate

Along with taking up initiatives to control the price of potatoes and onions which is arbitrarily hiked as and when disturbances are caused to transportation, Manipur Potato and Onion Freight Association has stated that rates of these items would be displayed in all shops and published in local dailies on daily basis for public information.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday, Association's information and public relations in-charge Shanta Nahakpam said that considering the problems faced by the public due to spike in price of potatoes and onions taking undue advantage of the current crisis in the state, the association started taking up initiatives to control prices of these commodities by supplying potato and onion respectively at wholesale rate of Rs 19 and Rs 39 per kilogram.
These commodities are made available to the public in Nagamapal and Dharmasala area from 3am to 6 pm, as per the schedule fixed by the government to avoid traffic congestion.
As such public as well as retailers may purchase the same within the specified timing, he said.
Shanta also urged the clubs and CSOs to monitor the sale price of these commodities in their respective localities.
Moreover, daily rate of onion and potato will be published in the local dailies on daily basis, the secretary reiterated.
