Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei drew 2-2 with Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam to secure pole position of the 1st Premier League organised by the All Manipur Football Association at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
It was a see-saw affair between SSU and AIM as Sapam Basanta equalised it for AIM right before the break after SSU took a lead after 35 minutes with Laishram Kishan finding the target.
After the restart, AIM were able to overturn the lead as Laishram Mahesh coolly converted a chance in the 64th minute.
AIM almost looked to walk home victorious but a Thounaojam Premjit, made the most of a 90-minute penalty to pull level.
Despite 11 added minutes, the two sides remained locked at 2-2 and eventually shared a point apiece.
The result helped SSU, who had registered three wins in the last four matches, amass 10 points to climb atop the league table.
Meanwhile, it was the fourth draw for AIM in five matches that included a win.
Earlier in the day, Sagolband United were held to a 1-1 draw by Classic FA.
Sagolband United went up front with Bless Vashum converting a penalty four minutes into the game but Sorokhaibam Robert pulled level with a fine finish in the 30th minute.
The scoreline remained unchanged even as the two sides toiled hard to add to their tally in the remaining part of the game.
