Imphal, January 02 2024:
Blankets and medicines were distributed to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Ima Nungthong Lairembi relief camp set up at Sugnu Makha community hall, and village volunteers of Sugnu on Monday.
The blankets were sent from Punjab by Punjab cadre Indian Forest Service Manipuri officer Basanta Raj Kumar, and the medicines provided by MitSna, a non-profit group empowered by undergraduate and graduate students of Manipur origin working/settling across the country and world.
Ringo Pebam and Alex Phairembam, who distributed the relief items, said that the makeshift tarpaulin wall of Ima Nungthong Lairembi relief camp covers only half; and if anybody willing to help can donate plastic tarpaulin or green-house net to cover the remaining hollow space.
It will help the displaced people taking refuge in the relief camp in withstanding the chilly winter, they said.
Art of Living Manipur Chapter in association with Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar also donated winter apparels to residents of six relief camps located in Kakching district on Monday.
The Art of Living team distributed winter jogger shirts to children and the MLA distributed 10 blankets each to inmates of the relief camps located at Kalyan Ashram Kakching, Yumbi Macha High School, Kakching Wairi Kongoi community hall, Kha Manipur College, Old Age Home Kakching, and Indoor Stadium Kakching.
According to Art of Living Manipur Chapter member Rajaque Rahman, the organisation had distributed relief materials to 25 relief camps under its campaign 'Anouba Yakairol - Spread the Warmth'.
He encouraged the displaced people to maintain personal hygiene and remain healthy.
