AMUCO calls for communal harmony

AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang has appealed to the people of Manipur to refrain from giving communal angle to any incident but to maintain the bond of brotherhood while working towards preventing unwanted incidents.
A joint team of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) and All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPCO) visited the injured victims of the Lilong incident at Raj Medicity and provided Rs 5000 cash assistance to each, on Tuesday.
Interacting with the media at the hospital, Nando Luwang said that AMUCO shares the pain and grief of the victims of Lilong incident and their families.
Out of the 10 injured undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity, two are in ICU.
The cash assistance is a token of solidarity to the victim families and AMUCO also requested the hospital authority to take proper care of the victims.
He also urged the government to extend all possible assistance to the victims.
Nando further said that CSOs and people of the state exercised maximum restraints and played major role in controlling the situation.
Both the communities have been living peacefully for centuries, he said while urging all to uphold the relationship.
The president also urged all to refrain from communalising any issue or incident, but to resolve issues through peaceful dialogues.
AMMPCO working president Rahaman Yumkhaibam said that Meetei and Meitei Pangal have been working together on all issues concerning the society and appealed to all not to repeat any act or statement, which may hurt sentiments of both communities.
He appreciated the CSOs and common people, who took key role in controlling the situation and preventing from taking an ugly turn.
He also called upon the people of both communities to continue upholding the bond of brotherhood between the two communities.
