Lilong incident condemned, call for peace raised

The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) strongly condemned the unfortunate incident that unfolded at Lilong in Thoubal district yesterday.
It may be noted that the incident at Lilong Chingjao yesterday night left four people dead and many other injured when some armed miscreants opened fire at the civilians.
MNYO expressed solidarity to the victims of yesterday's incident and denounced the acts that transpired.
In a press note by the secretary, information and publicity, MNYO, the organisation appealed to the Central Government for intervention, urging decisive action to restore peace in Manipur.
Emphasizing the power of dialogue, the Naga body called upon all parties involved to engage in meaningful discussions to address the aftermath of the incident.
'As we usher in to a new year, we call upon all stakeholders to contribute to a peaceful resolution and discourage actions that may sow seeds of discord', said the press note.
Further, it urged the State Government to book the culprits involved at the earliest and let justice prevail.
Praying for understanding, compassion and collaboration, MNYO called for collective efforts to strive for a future where conflicts are resolved through peaceful means, fostering a community where peace and harmony prevail.
'MNYO remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a harmonious community, extending wishes for a prosperous and peaceful New Year to all', added the note.
Bishnupur
Condemning the Lilong incident in the strongest terms, Youths for Social Action Bishnupur, Advisor RK Sakhitombi appealed for peace and restraint amid these challenging times.
She was addressing media persons during a press meet held at Lamabam Mani Memorial Conference Hall of New Life Foundation at Thamnapokpi today.
Stating that the incident is highly deplorable, she stressed on the need for maintaining calm and fostering peace by finding out the actual root cause of the incident.
She called for collective efforts to strive for peaceful co-existence among the various communities in the State and provide befitting punishment to the perpetrators.
Considering the gravity of the situation, she urged the Chief Minister to look into the matter and take up immediate measures to book the perpetrators and award stringent punishments to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
