Governor visits temple, home on New Year's Day

Imphal, January 02 2024:
On New Year's Day, Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited Mahadeva Mandir at 1st Manipur Rifles (MR), Imphal and offered prayers to the presiding deities of the temple for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead in the state.
The Governor was accorded a warm welcome by CO of 1st Manipur Rifles and families of police personnel residing there.
She interacted with the families and distributed sweets, monetary assistance to the children after the prayer.
Later, the Governor visited Langol Old Age Home in Imphal West district and interacted with the aged people staying in the home and enquired about their concerns and grievances.
On hearing the grievances and conditions of the old age home, she announced donation of Rsl lakh from Raj Bhavan and further assured required assistance from the government through district administration and departments concerned.
She was pleased to know that most of the old age home inmates have voluntarily decided to donate their bodies after death by registering themselves as body donor in the medical institutes of the state.
She also donated blankets, rice, and monetary assistance to all the inmates as a New Year's gift.
The inmates expressed gratitude and wished her a happy, healthy and prosperous life ahead.
A team of BJP Manipur Pradesh ST Morcha led by its president Lanjaigai Kamei called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and extended their New Year greetings.
The Governor also extended her New Year's greetings to the visiting team and wished for a peaceful and prosperous year.
The team expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Governor for her indis -pensable services and love for the people of Manipur.
