UCM to investigate alleged fund misappropriation

Stating that conflict survivors at relief camps are not receiving the sum of Rs 115 (approx) per day as assured by the State Government, United Committee Manipur (UCM) has resolved to look into this alleged case of fund misappropriation.
Konthoujam Joychandra, president UCM made the remark during a luncheon accompanied by distribution of mosquito nets sponsored by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation and organised by UCM Langol Unit in collaboration with The New Leaf Association (NeLA) at Langol Relief Camp.
Ngangbam Robert, co-ordinator, NeLA handed over the mosquito nets to the conflict survivors.
Speaking on the occasion, Joychandra rued that the State Government had failed to perform its duty towards its citizens.
Stating that UCM has received information about certain people misappropriating the aforementioned fund, he informed that UCM is going to start investigating the matter.
Referring to the Rs 38.06 crore sanctioned by the Centre as crop compensation for affected farmers, he questioned how the Government is spending this huge sum.
Separately, the UCM president expressed anguish over yesterday's Lilong tragedy and appealed against circulation of rumours.
He urged people to live together in harmony while appealing them to jointly uphold the integrity of Manipur.
