Kuki militants attack SFs for 4th consecutive day, 8 hurt

At least eight security personnel sustained injuries in an attack by Kuki militants at the border town of Moreh, today.
Of the eight injured, five are special commando personnel while the remaining three are from BSF.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said that two kuki militants have been gunned down by security personnel and nine others injured at Moreh.
Our Moreh correspondent reported that a gunfight broke out between Kuki militants and security forces at New Moreh, the adjoining area between Moreh Ward no 8 and Moreh Ward no 9 .
Kuki militants also fired two bombs from the western side of Moreh Hospital last night at around 7 .

Heavy security measures have been taken up and security personnel have been kept on high alert in vulnerable areas of Moreh town to encounter further possible attacks by Kuki militants, said sources.
A joint team of Moreh police, Manipur Rifles, IRB personnel and 192 Battalion of BSF was heading to Chavangphai and Canan Veng to carry out massive search operations in the wake of resurgence of Kuki militants' hostilities in the last few days at the border town.
The security forces, however, were ambushed by suspected cadres of KNA, UKLF and KNA-B using explosives and sophisticated weapons, leaving some security personnel injured.
The injured were given first aid at the Assam Rifles hospital at Moreh.
Four special commando personnel and a Head Constable of BSF were airlifted to Imphal and taken to RIMS while the other two BSF personnel were discharged as their injuries were not serious.
One more commando was airlifted from Moreh to Imphal in the evening for treatment at RIMS.
Reportedly that there was an exchange of fire between the security personnel and Kuki militants till 2 pm.
It is said that the Kuki militants also fired at a helicopter which was to land at the Key Location Point (KLP) near Moreh town.
The injured security personnel have been identified as Maibam Thoiba (32), s/o Ravi of Yairipok Top Chingtha (bullet injury on left thigh), Chabungbam Herojit (38), s/o Bira of Kodompokpi Mayai Leikai (bullet injury on left hand), Mangsatabam Premkumar (35), s/o Token of Luwangsangbam (injured on back), Kamei Gaihemlung (40), s/o (L) Kamei Majapao of Ragailong (injured on his hand) and Maibam Dayandi (47) .
They are personnel of the special commando unit of Khabeisoi.
Head Constable of BSF Ravinder (48), of Vhadra, Rajasthan, on the other hand, got injured on his chest.
All the six injured security personnel are undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital.
DIG Range-I N Herojit and Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta visited the injured security personnel at RIMS.
