AR conducts security meet, medical camp

Assam Rifles on Fri-day conducted an interactive peace-cum-security meeting at Chassad in Kamjong district in an effort to maintain peace and tranquillity between dif-ferent communities amid the prevailing unrest in Manipur.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the meeting was attend-ed by CSO representatives namely Kamjong Students' Union president Ngameri Jajo, Tangkhul Women So-ciety chairperson Shimrei-chon Kadoyu, Kuki Students' Organisation president Lalber Haokip, Eastern Kuki Chief Association general secretary S Haokip and Kamjong Youth Club chairman P Touthang among others.
Both Kuki and Naga com-munities residing along the border villages of Kamjong district appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in maintain-ing peace so far, the PRO in-formed, adding that the CSOs were urged to restrain from indulging in violent acts and cooperate with the state ma-chinery in bringing normalcy back to the state.
During the meeting, the village elders pointed out that they are facing difficulties in availing basic amenities from nearby towns and requested the local administration to as-sist them with food material.
The villagers were also con-veyed to restrain from sharing unverified information which may escalate the conflict and hamper the on-going peace process in the state, the PRO informed.
On the other hand, a med-ical camp was organised by Assam Rifles at Kaprang vil-lage in Churachandpur dis-trict on Friday, during which a total of 593 individuals in-cluding 99 men, 298 women and 196 children were screen and provided medicines free of cost.
