District Level Committee meeting deliberates on crisis, issues in Thoubal

Thoubal, June 10 2023:
A District Level Committee meeting was held today in presence of the Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A Subhash Singh, IAS, to discuss various issues related to the present situation and relief centres set up in the District.
Chairperson of the committee, Dr Ksh Manglem, former Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Thoubal called upon the members of the committee to continue with their humanitarian efforts at the relief centres.
During the meeting, the members of the committee also gave their valuable suggestions for the welfare of the people.
At the meeting, the DC said that at present there are 12 relief centres in the district.
Around 1,339 inmates are taking shelter in these centres and as per report collected, around 1,100 inmates are from Churachandpur, Moreh, Serou and Sugnu.
These inmates will be accommodated at semi-permanent camps till normalcy returns.

He said that after consultations with the local clubs and CSOs, the District Administration is giving free medical checkup and other needs.
The DC further highlighted that one of the key priority areas is to provide quality education to the students at the relief centres.
At present the volunteers are giving daily classes in collaboration with Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) who have already provided textbooks and benches.
With an aim to make the inmates self-reliant, the District Administration is conducting skill development programs in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra and MSRLM.
The inmates, especially the womenfolk are provided raw materials by the administration to make candles, pickle items among others, including kouna (wild water reed) products.
The finished product will be purchase by the District Administration from the inmates, he added.
The District Level Committee meeting was also attended by SP Thoubal, Jogeshchandra Haobijam, who is also the Co-Convenor of the committee, officials and staff of the District Administration, District Information Officer Thoubal, Tenshubam Sangeeta among others.
