World Hepatitis Day observed in state

World Hepatitis Day -2023 was observed on Friday under the joint aegis of National Health Mission (NHM) Manipur and Directorate of Health Services, at Classic Grande here.
The observance held under the theme "One Life One Liver" was attended by Health and Family Welfare minister Dr S Ranjan and health commissioner PK Jha as chief gest and president respectively while Manipur State AIDS Control Society project director H Rosita Devi, NHM state mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam and RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma were guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Dr S Ranjan stressed the need for all concerned to create awareness among the masses through which the global target for elimination of hepatitis by 2030 could be achieved.
Noting that the public lack knowledge on viral hepatitis, its mode of transmission and treatment procedures, he said the government has set its suS-tainable development goal to eradicate Hepatitis by 2030 .
Every health professionals and staff need to shoulder responsi bility and extend coordination to achieve the target.
We also need to work with full commitment, he added.
The minister also informed that consumption of adulterated liquor is also one of the factors for liver infection in the state.
Liver is one of the most important organs of a person, the minister further added.
Dr Ranjan maintained that the government is also planning to prepare a data of liver cirrhosis patients in the state.
Different departments in health sector should coordinate one another.
He also appreciated the role of health professionals during the present period.
