CAU, Imphal launches BSc (honours) natural farming

Imphal, January 10 2024:
Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal has launched BSc (Honours) natural farming as a four-year degree programme at College of Agriculture, CAU, Kyrdemkulai in Meghalaya on Tuesday.
Launching of the course across five colleges under the university, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) secretary and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi director general Dr Himanshu Pathak stressed the importance of natural farming as an alternative agriculture practice which will be particularly suitable in the North Eastern part of the country, considering the various agro-ecological conditions, available resources as well as plethora of indigenous knowledge and practices among the majority small and marginal farmers of the region.
He further stated the prime objective of Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhti is to promote increased sustainability in agriculture, water conservation, soil health and farmland ecosystem.
The programme was also attended by CAU, Imphal vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra, deputy director general of Natural Resource Management of ICAR, New Delhi Dr SK Chaudhary, CPGS-AS dean, Umiam Dr Dwipendra Thakuria and College of Ag riculture, Kyrdemkulai dean Prof Ram Singh.
