FOCS smells rat behind Thangthang Kom's murder

Imphal, September 19 2023: Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) strongly denounced the abduction of Serto Thangthang Kom from home on September 16 by three unidentified armed persons and his subsequent killing.

In a release, FOCS demanded public clarification on why and who abducted and killed Thangthang Kom and also shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family.

As Chin-Kuki illegal immigrants are staring at imminent defeat in the on-going conflict with the Meitei community, they are spreading lies to the indigenous tribes under the Naga fold to find allies and incite hatred against the Meitei, it observed while adding that abduction and killing of a person belonging to an indigenous community amidst such situation will take advantage by the enemy and make room to create misunderstanding among the indigenous communities.

Instead of deporting the illegal immigrants, the central government sided with them and made them the agent for disrupting the unity and identity of the land, it alleged, while urging indigenous communities to join hands and fight together.
