Imphal, June 10 2023: In solidarity with Yelhoumee Kanba Lup's call for upholding the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur and denouncing the on-going violence, human chain formation and sit-in protests were carried out in various places from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday.

During the protests, slogans such as "Manipur's integrity cannot be disturbed", "With-draw Kuki militants under So0 immediately", "Long Live Manipur", "Take action against 10 MLAs for trying to balkanise Manipur" and "Implement NRC at earliest" were raised.

The human chain were forms from Nagamapal RIMS Crossing to RIMS Gate, Sagol-band Langjing Achouba, Tera Lukram Leirak, Naoremthong Bazar, Naoremthong Khullem Leikai, Naoremkhong Khu-manthem Leikai, Samusang Uku, Lamboikhongnagk-hong, Iroisemba Manghiden, Iroisemba Chingjin, Takyel Kolom Leikai, Tera Bazar, Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Tera Lukram Leirak, Tera Loukham Leirak, Heinoupok, Tera Sadokpam Leikai, Moi-ranghanuba, Khamnam Ba-zar, Tera Tongbram Leikai, Takyel Khongbal, Keithel-manbi, Moidangpok, Khum-bong, Khaidem, Konthoujam, Awang Khunou, Yurembam, Patsoi and Langjing Achouba.

Similar human chains were formed from Keishampat to Kwakeithel, Meitram Awang Leikai, Meitram Mamang Leikai, Kodompokpi Lamkhai, Kaboklei Market, Nambol Ba-zar, Thoubal Wangmataba, Waithou Bazar, Tangjeng, New Checkon Traffic Point, Wangkhei Keithel Asangbi, Hatta, Mana Ingkhol, Lu-wangsangbam, Singjamei Okram Leikai, Singjamei Chongtham Leikai, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Lilong Cha-jing, Khongnang Ani Karak, Sangakpham, Chingmeirong, Malom, Kakwa, 'thing, Haotal and Khurai Laiwangma.

Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Association (MIKHYA) along with the local club and Meirai Paibi also formed a human chain at Saturday as Maibam Konjil Social Progres-sive Organisation (MKSPO) in collaboration with Maibam Mayai Leikai Samaj Sembi Nupi Lup organised a mass agitation at the club's ground in Mayang Imphal Maibam Mayai Leikai on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Khurai Chaithabi Leirak Mayai Leikai Women's Society asked the 50 non-Kuki MLAs in the state to take up necessary steps to restore peace when union home minister Amit Shah re-visits the state, failing which they warned that the people of the state will not support any of the incumbent MLAs in the next assembly election.

The Meira Paibi groups along with Khurai Chaitha-bi Leirak Development Club organised a sit-in protest at the locality on Saturday demanding restoration of peace, protection of the ter-ritorial integrity of Manipur, implementation of NRC and flushing out Kuki militants.

Interacting with the media, Meira Paibi president Bimo-la pointed out that as Amit Shah sought 15 days' time to resolve the crisis the 50 non-Kuki MLAs in the state should take up all necessary steps to restore peace and normalcy in the state when the union home minister revisits the state.

As the MLAs were elected by the people they need no reminding that the public will not back them if they undermine public's aspiration, she said.

Thoubal / ICakching: Hu-man chain formation and sloganeering against Kuki militants were organised in various parts of the two districts under the aegis of Yelhou Mee Kanba Lup (YEM-KAL) on Saturday.

The protesters held plac-ards and shouted slogans demanding withdrawal of So0 agreement & flushing out Kuki militants, stop firing on Meetei, removal of Assam Rifles from Manipur, conduct search operation in hills, im-plement NRC, no separate ad-ministration in Manipur, etc.

At the end of the rally, the participants also observed two minutes' silence in honour of people who lost their lives protecting Manipur.
