'Khullak Kii-Mei' performed for Ngarian chief

Imphal, January 10 2024:
Customary feast of chiefship traditionally known as 'Khullak Kii-Mei' commemorating 35 years of chiefship of Rangjandun Kamei, Khullakpa and chief cum ex-officio chairman of Raengzang (Ngarian) village under Kangvai sub-division of Churachandpur district was organised on Wednesday at the village.
The ceremony was a follow-up of the erection and unveiling of the monolith held on January 5 at the same village.
'Khullak Kii-Mei' programme was marked by traditional rituals including blessing of the monolith and traditional Ho-Hoing, showcasing the vibrant cultural tapestry of the village.
The ceremony was not merely a symbolic feast but also testifies the undisputed and recognised authority of Rangjandun Kamei as the chief/Khullakpa and ex-of-ficio chairman of Ngarian village.
The event was attended by Loktak Project Affected Hills Area Chiefs' Association, Manipur chairman PG Gaithaothui as .chief guest and Chiefs' Welfare Association, Loktak Project Area chairman PG Gaithaothui as guest of honour.
Chiefs of all nearby villages, local dignitaries, community members and well-wishers also attended the event.
A total of 1000 delegates took part in the day-long function which concluded with the customary feast known as 'Khullak Kii-Mei' in Rongmei dialect.
