Imphal, October 01 2023:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) stated that it would be the right step for the Manipur DGP to resign on moral ground if the police fail to arrest and punish the culprits involved in cold blooded murder of the two students by Kuki militants in captivity.
A release issued by KKL denounced the excessive use of force by security forces through unrestrained firing of tear gas, mock bombs, rubber bullets, and even pellet guns on uniform wearing students, injuring more than one hundred of them.
A departmental enquiry should be initiated to punish security forces involved in the violence.
Paramilitary forces, Assam Rifles, Gurkha Rifles, BSF and other forces meant to work for maintaining law and order by assisting Manipur police cannot act at, their own whims but work under Manipur police, the release said.
