Imphal, October 01 2023:
Former National Board member of MSME Robin Blackie has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to arrest the leader of Canada chapter of North American Manipuri Tribal Association (NAMTA) Lien Gangte under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for having alleged with link with Khalistani separatists.
Speaking to the media at his residence at Keibung Maibam Leikai today, Robin claimed that Lien Gangte spoke at Canada's Surrey (gurdwara) in early August and sought support from the country to help the Kuki people in Manipur.
Claiming that the said gurudwara, however, is a hotspot for Khalisatani separatists, he added that Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Canadian Sikh separatist leader involved with the Khalistan movement was shot dead in front of the gurdwara on June 18 .
Saying that there is a diplomatic row between Canada and India following the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Robin said that Lien Gangte seeking support from Canada for Kuki people amid the diplomatic row between the two countries is a very serious issue.
Continuing that the movement to establish a Kuki homeland or Zalengam is a threat to the Nation's integrity, he said that Lien Gangte had also shown his support to the movement of Kukis by seeking support from Canada.
He went on to state that the NAMTA leader depicted the crisis in Manipur as of Hindus suppressing Christians to play the victim card which is unfounded and baseless.
Claiming that the nexus between Chin-Kuki politicians and international criminal organisations have been exposed by the sharp rise in drug and arms smuggling cases in Mizoram, he urged the Central Government to look into the matter with utmost seriousness.
