MSCW denounces violence against woman

Imphal, October 01 2023:
After a pregnant woman and her mother in-law living on the first floor of Devalaya Complex at Thangal Bazar Kali Bari Road were expelled by Devalaya Committee, Manipur; State Commission for Women (MSCW) has registered a case and made them stay at One Stop Centre in Imphal West.
Speaking in this regard, Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson Salam Ulka informed that such violence against women amidst the current turmoil in the state will be dealt seriously.
The commission will work at their level best to ensure justice to the victims and punishment of the perpetrators, she added.
She recalled that the woman and her mother-in-law were found when they searched for a room on September 27 around 7 pm.
They said that they were expelled from their place by Devalaya Complex Committee.
After taking up necessary measures, they were told to return to their place and subsequently were picked up from the complex and made them to stay at One Stop Centre, in Imphal West.
A complaint was also lodged with Imphal West SP for giving a detailed report about the case to the commission.
Moreover, a letter demanding to provide a shelter home for the duo was submitted to Social Welfare director.
