415 Myanmarese kids given polio drops

Imphal, March 03 2024:
In a step towards ensuring health and well-being of the Myanmarese children seeking refuge in Kamjong district, around 600 children were given polio drop on the 'National Immunization Day' on Sunday.
Officials reported that around 5700 Myanmarese refugees, who entered Kamjong district illegally due to military crackdown on rebel groups in their country, are currently residing in various villages in the district.
These refugees, identified through biometric details by state authorities, have been receiving essential services including healthcare programmes of the government.
Chief Medical Officer, Kamjong Dr Lucy Duidang said that out of 590 children staying in relief camps eligible for polio vaccination, 415 children received their inoculation on Sunday.
The remaining children will be covered in the coming days.
Additionally, nine remote villages in Kamjong district were included in the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme- 2024 in the first day.
