Workshop on data analysis commences

A 16-day workshop on "Data Analysis Using Excel and SPSS" organised by Manipur University, Department of Statistics commenced at the court hall of the varsity from Wednesday.
The inaugural function of the workshop was held with MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh, Statistics Department head professor Kh Kumarchand Singh and School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences dean Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lokendro stressed the need to discuss and understand the different forms of data being encountered in contemporary digital world and use them for the development of mankind.
The workshop is being organised the aid the attendees get acquainted with advancement and importance of digital data, he said, adding that major thrust is being given to'enhance knowledge in countries like India.
While assuring that Manipur University will provide all support in organising such workshops in future, the VC said positive outputs/feedbacks of the workshop will be acknowledged and documented.
Stating that the government of India is giving its all to ensure proper function ing of the National Research Foundation (NRF), which is a major component of NEP, Prof N Lokendro said that once NRF is operational, all the funds for research projects will be provided.
However, the concept paper for any research work should be well refined.
Once the concept paper is accepted by NRF, adequate funds will be provided.
Therefore, scholars need to work hard and take good advantages of such workshops, he advised.
