Lups aid cancer patient, edibles donated to relief camps

Imphal, December 13 2023:
Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup on Wednesday provided assistance of Rs 80,000 to 17-year-old L Leimachanu, who is suffering from cancer in her right eye and is presently staying in relief camp set up at Lamboi Khongnangkhong after she and her family got displaced from Kangpokpi due to current crisis.
Speaking to media persons, Uripok Apunba Lup vice president Khwairakpam Tarun Kumar informed that they provided the financial assistance and three flight tickets to facilitate her treatment in Guwahati.
Meanwhile, Senior Social Group, Sagolband distributed edibles at relief camps at Chandonpokpi in Bishnupur district and Phayeng in Imphal West district.
The edibles were handed over by Group president Salam In-aobi, vice president Salam Noren, general secretary Paonam Ningthem, treasurer Sukham Ratankumar and auditor Sorokhaibam Jhalajit to the residents.
On the other hand, Bishnupur district administration provided thermo-flask to 320 residents of the relief camp opened at Old Mini Secretariat Complex, near Loukoipat.
The distribution programme was attended by Bishnupur SDO L Rishikanta and Centre's secretary M Bilkee.
Under the supervision of Sagolband MLA Rk Imo Singh, Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) in collaboration with the Peace and Relief Committee Sagolband provided relief items for approximately 200 residents of the relief camp set up at Thangmeiband Tombisana High School, Khoyathong which is functioning under the aegis of Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan and supervision of TAKDO.
Items including vegetables, water jars, eatables, arid other items of daily necessities were distributed.
According to a release, MLA Rk Imo Singh has expressed his dedication to continuing the humanitarian effort by providing support to the relief camp set up in Phubala in the upcoming days, recognising the urgency of the situation.
He also emphasised collective responsibility of the community in times of crisis, urging people to unite and contribute to restoring peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest.
