GOC flags off national integration tour

A 10-day National Integration Tour (NIT) for students of Loyala Higher Secondary School, Zakhama, Kohima district was flagged off by Lt Gen HS Sahi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Spear Corps, Indian Army, on Wednesday.
The NIT, bound for Kolkata, Shillong and Guwahati, started off at Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur.
The NIT, organised under Operation Sadbhavna, com-prises20 students, including five girls, and three teachers of the Loyala Higher Secondary School, said a PIB (Defence Wing) press release on Wednesday.
According to the release, the tour is aimed at providing an opportunity to the students hailing from Kig-wema, Tseminyu, Zakhama, Mima and Kezo villages in Kohima district to venture beyond Nagaland and explore historical, cultural places in cities and institutions of national eminence.
During the tour, the students apart from visiting places of interest, will also interact with dignitaries like Governors of West Bengal and Meghalaya, and Director General Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, a team which will undertake unique ad venturous activities like sailing on a cruise in the mighty Brahmaputra, traveling in a ropeway will be flagged off On December 22 by the Governor of Nagaland.
The tour will give an exposure to the students to experience the culture of metro cities and understand the diversity of the country, it added.
