JD-U seeks action against defector MLAs

Imphal, December 13 2023:
Citing relevant provisions as enshrined in the Constitution of India, Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Manipur State Unit has submitted a fresh petition to the Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker/chairman on Wednesday requesting disqualification of five JD-U) MLAs namely Khumukcham Joykisan Singh of Thangmeiband AC), Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh), Achab Uddin (Jiribam), Thangjam Arunkumar Singh (Wangkhei and LM Khaute (Churachandpur), who were elected on JD-U tickets in the last assembly election but defected the parent party and joined the BJP.
While stating that the fresh petition was filed as per the party's decision, a release issued by JD-U state secretary general M Dorendro Singh expressed hope that the speaker/chairman will take up necessary action at the earliest in the interest of the people of Manipur.
