Bishnupur, December 13 2023:
Mangolnganbi College principal RK Birjit Singh refuted the 'false claims' made by a former student of the college, Chanam Roshan Singh on social media platforms regarding the help extended to the displaced students staying at relief camps.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held today in connection with the issue at the conference hall of the college, the principal said, 'It is a matter of grave concern and it is really unfortunate that Chanam Roshan Singh who is no more a bonafide student of the college has misguided the people particularly the student community by uploading false and inaccurate information on December 11 on social media platforms alleging that no help has been extended to displaced students staying at relief camps' .
Expressing concern on such misleading information intended to tarnish the image of the college, the principal appealed to all concerned to refrain from carrying out such activities amid the prevailing tense situation in the State.
He further maintained that Chanam Roshan Singh is no more a bonafide student of the college and his false claims creating confusion in the student community is not related with the college.
In view of the above, the principal informed that, 'As per the guidance of the Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur, under the Chief Minister's College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCSRS), 2023, the college had admitted 16 displaced students and enrolled them in the scheme to avail the monetary benefit of Rs 10,000 each to help them pursue their studies' .
The principal also stated that the college has been making sincere efforts to extend best possible help to the displaced students who have been adversely affected by the communal conflict in the State.
Refuting the false claims made by Roshan that he has not been provided the benefits of CMCSRS, the principal said the claims are factually wrong and misleading.
Considering the prevailing tense situation in the State, the principal appealed to all not to go with this kind of false propaganda.
