Manipur slump to third straight loss in Women's U23 T20 Trophy

Manipur went down by 42 runs chasing 128 for the win against Sikkim today in their their match (Group B) of the Women's U23 T20 Trophy at St Xavier's KCA Cricket Ground.
It was the third straight loss for Manipur having lost to Maharashtra and Vidarbha in the first two matches.
Manipur won the toss and chose to field first allowing Sikkim amass 127 runs for three wickets thanks to an unbeaten 67 by Samayita.
Manipur however ended up adding 85 runs for 6 wickets in the chase.
Earlier in Sikkim's innings, Kiranbala trapped Nandika lbw for 2 to reduce Sikkim to 12/1 after 2.2 overs before Niruta removed Pretika Chettri on 19 and L Linthoi bowled out Yuden for 8 runs to make it 51/3 after 8.4 overs.
From there, Samayita smashed five fours and one six on the way to her 53-ball 67 and forged a significant 78-run partnership for the fourth wicket with skipper Pranita (12 off 30 deliveries) to take the tally to 127 .
In reply, Manipur Seterny 14 and Kalpana 11 gave Manipur a slow start and kept losing wickets in regular intervals.
Niruta tried to play anchor after Seterny was caught and bowled by Pramila in the 8th over and Linthoingambi RK was dismissed for 13 runs by Lhakmit Lepcha in the 14th over.
Niruta also saw Teresa being removed by Leeza in the 7th over before she holed out to Pramila for 29 runs off the Pranita's third ball of the 19th over.
Pranita also bowled out Palujam Kiranbala on duck in the next delivery to return with the best figures of 2/14 in 4 overs.
Ronibala 6 and L Linthoi 5 were unbeaten as the innings ended at 85/6 .
Manipur will play Tamil Nadu in the next match on December 15 .
