The two-day workshop on "Future of Journalism", organised by American Centre, Kolkata in collaboration with US Consulate General Kolkata and US-based Meridian International, concluded on Friday.
During the workshop, which was attended by over 30 media professionals from across the country, it was examined how Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) can best assist in media literacy and press freedom.
Experts and trainers from both US and India elaborated to mid-career journalists and senior editors on how to prepare content with the help of AI and what changes will it
bring to the field of media.
Speaking on the occasion, US Embassy New Delhi Minister Counsellor for Public Diplomacy Gloria Berbena informed that the US Department of State is paying close attention to AI as it is the centre of global technological revolution.
As India and the US are one the largest democracies in the work, the objective is to promote scientific and technological aspects to better uphold democracy and human rights.
Thus, the workshop was organised with the aim of handling possible challenges related to AI in this regard, the counsellor said.
As part of the workshop, attendees were provided with hands-on training on the aforementioned technologies.
