Imphal, August 05 2023:
While condemning the murder of three innocent civilians by terrorists at Kwakta village under Bishnupur district in the wee hours Saturday, BJP MLA RK Imo said the central government owes an explanation to the people of Manipur as to who should be held accountable for the murder of the three civilians, supply of arms and ammunition to the terrorists, and security lapses.
In a video message made available to the media, MLA RK Imo demanded that those inciting tension and violence and destroying peace and normalcy in the state should be given befitting punishment.
Hitting out at the central security forces, the MLA alleged security lapses as the primary reason for the attack at Kwakta ward no 4 .
Despite the presence of large number of paramilitary personnel, the militants crossed over to the district and killed the three people.
The paramilitary personnel deployed for duty at the village should be suspended and units concerned withdrawn from the said area.
Various letters and memorandums have been submitted regularly to the Union Home minister that certain security units are abetting conflict between the people and the state, he said while adding that a few units of the security forces are creating problems.
If proper action is not taken immediately, return of peace and normalcy in the state would be wishful thinking, he added.
RK Imo also pointed out the need for taking up certain proactive measures and urged the state's chief security advisor to look into these aspects.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also condemned murder of the trio in the strongest terms and expressed fear that the incident would aggravate the situation in the state.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, AAP Manipur activity co-ordinator Bishwanath Thingnam likened the murder of the father-son duo along with another civilian to the attack carried out by Japanese, forces in Pearl Harbour following which America dropped the atom bomb that led to the end of World War II.
He asked if the Kwakta incident should construed as a means to end the present crisis or an attempt to abet violence.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media at its Ningthem Pukhri office on Saturday, Federation of Civil, SocD ety Organisation' (FOCS) termed the brutal murder of the three civilians to acts of cowardice and condemned the incident in the strongest terms as MACHA LEIMA, in a release, joined the condemnation chorus and demind stringiest punitive action against the perpetrators.
