Kuki mob crosses SF posts, destroys Meitei houses

Large numbers of Kuki mob from Churachandpur and S Kotlien vandalised Meitei houses in Torbung Bangla using bull dozers after crossing various bunkers and outposts of 9 Assam Rifles (AR), CRPF and other central para military forces along the way on Saturday.
According to reports received here, Kuki men and women numbering over 5000 coming from Churachandpur and S Kotlien marched towards Torbung Bangla around 4pm on Saturday.
Upon reaching Torbung Bangla, they were blocked by security forces deployed in the area.
However, the Kuki mob breached security barrier and started destroying the Meitei houses.
Soon after destruction of Meiteis houses started, bull dozers brought by mob from Churachandpur began to raze down the houses as the security forces deployed in the area watched helplessly.
The mob on their way to Torbung Bangla came across many bunkers and outposts of 9 AR, CRPF and other central para military forces.
Earlier around 2pm, Kuki women tried to destroy the Meitei houses in Torbung Bangla.
However, personnel of Kumaon Regiment deployed in the area prevented the large number of Kuki women by firing several rounds.
Two Kuki women who suffered bullet wounds in the crackdown were rushed to Churachandpur district hospital for treatment.
The mob later retreated from the area and blocked the road few kilometres away from the Torbung Bangla.
It may be mentioned that personnel of AR, BSF, RAF and other central forces used tear gas shells and rubber-bullets to disperse large number of women from the valley districts who tried to march to Torbung Bangla to prevent attempt of Kuki people from conducting burial of Kuki people who lost their lives in the ethnic violence at the sericulture farm in Torbung Bangla.
