Bishnupur, August 23 2023:
Opposing transfer of Bishnupur SP Roni Mayengbam, Central Committee of Civilians for Protection for Keinou Thongkha member Soraisam Somarendro contended that the state government seems more interested in transfer of government employees instead of resolving the prevailing situation.
Addressing a press meet at its Keinou Thongkha office on Tuesday, Somarendro advised the government and the MLAs to bringing a solution to the present crisis rather than indulging in transfer of employees.
Mentioning that border areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts are epicentre of ongoing conflict, he expressed that they will welcome the frequent transfer of government employees amidst the volatile situation if it will end the conflict, otherwise, there is no reason for transfer of the SP who has been in charge of the district only for three months.
The press conference was also attended by Committee's convener A Romesh and other members.
Meanwhile, a sit-in protest was staged by womenfolk of Nambol, Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong and Moirang at Bishnupur Forest Gate on Tuesday against the transfer of SP Roni Mayengbam.
Later, the agitators submitted a memorandum to Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram demanding revocation of the transfer order.
Speaking to media persons, one Lourembam Pramo Leima posed how many times will the government change the SP of the district and why even after announcing that peace has returned there are still incidents of gun bring in state.
She also emphasised that they will not accept transfer of the SP amid the crisis situation and should be revoked immediately.
