Amit Shah summons Biren to review situation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has summoned Chief Minister N Biren and his council of ministers to New Delhi to assess the present situation in Manipur and the best solution to the same.
According to a source, CM Biren and his council of ministers will leave for Delhi via a special flight on Thursday.
The union home minister reportedly had a telephonic conversation with CM Biren on Tuesday regarding the present situation in the state during which the two talked about the present law and order situation and discussed what the central government could do to solve the violence.
Following this, the CM and his council of ministers were told to come to Delhi.
Meanwhile, another source conveyed that the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues are preparing to go to Delhi on Thursday to meet the union home minister and discuss the best course of action to resolve the violence in Manipur ahead of the upcoming Assembly session on August 29.However, it is not confirmed whether Kuki minister Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip will attend the meeting with the union home minister.
The source further informed that during the meeting with the union home minister on Thursday, CM Biren and his team will apprise the former about handing over of the temporary shelters to the people displaced by the violence.
In addition, the state government would also be apprising Amit Shah of the re-imposition of blockade along NH-2 by CoTU and the on-going efforts of police and paramilitary forces to recover the weapons looted from state forces.
It may be recalled that in connection with the violence in Manipur, union home minister Amit Shah had stated in the parliament that the violence in the state was caused by the influx of illegal immigrants from Myanmar.
He further informed the parliament that the fencing of Indo-Myanmar border, which was not done for a long time, was carried out only after the advent of the BJP government.
On the other hand, the central government had de ployed around 140 companies of CRPF to control the violence in the state.
Efforts are underway to deploy addition 20-22 companies of CAPF in the near future.
