Imphal, August 23 2023:
The JAC against the brutal killing of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging has cautioned of launching intense agitation if the government fails to reveal the truth in the death of Nonganba, who was murdered in cold blood on February 11, by August 30.Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here Wednesday, JAC co-convenor Leimapokpam Nganbi said that although Nonganba's death has completed 6-7 months, the government has failed to make any headway into the investigation.
The JAC and the family have been urging for handing over the case to CBI, which the government agreed to.
Following this, Nonganba's body was claimed after more than a month of his death, for conduct of final rites.
It is to be noted that neither the JAC nor the family demanded any compensation from the government in the matter, she stated.
While urging the government to clarify whether Nonganba's case has been handed over to CBI or not, she said that the JAC kept silent for the last 3-4 months due to the unrest situation in the state.
The conflict is not an easy matter, but it is also important to know the truth behind Nonganba's death while his mother is still in good health, she reasoned and reiterated the demand that the government put in the public domain the truth in the case by August 30, failing which intense agitation is inevitable.
