Imphal, August 23 2023:
The Ministry of Information & Publicity of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has informed that a 'general declaration' allegedly made by certain civil society organizations on July 31 at Khoupum has stated that the NSCN-IM cadres operating in Zeliangrong areas should be stopped and that NSCN-IM should remain within their respective designated camps.
According to a press release issued by Alur Seikho, deputy secretary, Information and Publicity, ZUF, the general declaration was made by the CSOs and the public following the rescue/release of three captives of NSCN-IM cadres at Khoupum.
The general declaration also reportedly stated that the NH-37 and NF Railway that stretches across "Zeliangrong Homeland" falls within the areas covered by ZUF and hence no taxation or extortion or any undue interference from any quarter will be entertained in these regions.
In this regard, ZUF has stressed that as stakeholders and social conscience keepers of the society, the leaders of the CSOs are responsible for upholding the above declaration and maintaining social justice, peace and harmony in the region.
ZUF also cautioned that in case of sheltering or giving passage to the 'opposing groups' in any form by individuals or village authorities in contrary to the general declaration, the Front will not be held responsible for any reactive measures, loss or damage of public properties or casualty or any eventuality.
The CSOs have also reportedly affirmed to maintain unbiased support to the ongoing Zeliangrong political talks with the Government of India and added that no undue interference from any quarter should cause disturbance to the political talks in progress, ZUF asserted.
