Awareness programmes conducted on Livestock / Fish Farming

Taking a transformative stride towards empowering agriculture, a collaborative one-day awareness programme on "Care & Management of Livestock cum Fish Farming" was jointly organised by Mobile-based Agro Advisory Services, Manipur (Loumisingi Paojel) and Multi Technology Testing Centre & Vocational Training Centre (MTTC & VTC), COA, CAU, Imphal.
This visionary initiative was conducted in partnership with Digital India Corporation (DIC), New Delhi, and unfolded amidst the scenic backdrop of Kameng in the Imphal West District.
Drawing the attention of approximately 35 dedicated farmers, the awareness programme garnered the support of MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), New Delhi, underlining its national significance.
At the heart of this enlightening event, Dr Vandana Kumari Leitanthem, an esteemed veterinary expert, took the stage.
Dr Leitanthem shed light on a pressing concern of a viral disease known as "Lumpy Skin Disease" affecting Cattle & Buffaloes.
With precision and insight, she elucidated the disease's consequences and imparted indispensable care practices to safeguard farmers' livestock.
Ahanthem Rawat, fishery expert, conveyed the broader significance of effective grow out pond management, species diversification in context to Manipur, soil and water quality management & health management in the realm of fishery.
His insights resonated with the vital importance of sustainable fish farming practices, thereby ensuring the longevity and prosperity of the fish farming sector.
Switching gears to modern technology, Nongthombam Guneshwar Singh, Field Executive Technical from DIC Manipur, stepped forward.
He eloquently elucidated the project's primary objectives, highlighting its power to furnish farmers with "right information at the right time" through a dedicated toll-free number, 1800-102-3141 .
His call to action resonated, urging farmers to embrace this platform for project registration and to actively participate in the Digital India movement.
Field Manager Hijam Thoiba & Field Coordinator Jotin played a crucial role in facilitating digital registration for the farmers.
They also ensured smooth and meaningful interactions between farmers and experts, creating an atmosphere for the exchange of valuable insights.
To enhance their understanding, a guided field visit was also organised, leaving farmers with a heightened appreciation for the valuable awareness surrounding the digitization of agriculture.
Moreover, Mobile-based Agro Advisory Services, Manipur (Loumisingi Paojel) in collaboration with MTTC & VTC, COA, CAU, Imphal and Digital India Corporation also organised an awareness programme on "Mushroom production technology" today at Yurembam, Imphal West district.
MTTC & VTC, Assistant Prof (Plant Production), Dr Sumitra Phurailatpam and Field Manager Kenny Sarangthem attended the awareness programme as resource persons.
