IPPI Prog 2024 launched across state

Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh on Sunday launched the National ImmunisationDay/lntensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Programme 2024.The launch function was organised by Directorate of Family Welfare Services, Manipur in association with State Health Society, NHM, Manipur at State Family Welfare Training Centre Campus, Lamphel.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Ranjan informed that the central government, with an objective to ensure the well-being of every citizen across all age groups, initiated immunisation programmes with an aggressive campaign.
Although India has been certified as a Polio-free country by World Health Organisation on March 27, 2014, the government remains vigilant and continues with large-scale immunisation efforts considering the prevalence of polio in neighbouring countries, he added.
He continued that a coordinated effort with all the stakeholders is important to spread the awareness of immunisation to each and every household of the state as a whole.
Immunisation is a necessity for the future generation and media has been taking a big role in spreading awareness so far, he added, while urging for administering pulse polio drops to children below five years of age to stay safe against Polio virus.
Highlighting the government's commendable service in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the health minister underlined the success of the free COVID-19 vaccination programme in the country.
He also emphasised the government's dedication to containing the pandemic by swiftly producing effective vaccines, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
Dr Ranjan then stated that a vaccine saves the society at large and we, as parent, need to administer vaccines on time to children.
He further added that the immunisation programme has been organised with an objective that no individual is left behind, even during the time of crisis.
He also appealed to the media fraternity to spread awareness on the on-going pulse polio immunisation programme to each and every household of the state to promote the health and well-being of the future generation.
The Health minister also said that the state government's demands to the central government for implementation of NRC, scrapping of FMR and continue the border fencing, is important and what the government should do to ensure the safety of indigenous populace and to prevent population imbalance in the long-term.
Family Welfare Services director Dr L Tomcha Khuman, Health Services director Dr Sanahanbi, and NHM, Manipur state mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam were on the dais as president and guests of honour respectively.
SIO Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, CMO Imphal West Dr L Joykumar, doctors, staffs, students and parents also attended the launch programme.
IMPHAL EAST: District Health Society Imphal East and District Family Welfare Officer Imphal East launched the National Immunisation Day/IPPI Programme 2024 at the temporary shelter home Imphal East-1 CD Block, Sawombung on Sunday.
The launch programme was attended by DC cum District Health Society Imphal East chairperson Khumanthem Diana as chief guest, Imphal East CMO/DHS district mission director Dr L Indira as president and ICDS Cell Imphal East district programme officer B Sonamani as guest of honour.
In her speech, DC Diana stressed the need for India to take precautionary measures considering the number of polio cases detected per year in the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Even if Polio has been eradicated from the country, we should never take the virus lightly, she asserted.
Diana then informed that a total of 550 polio booths have been set up in different places of the district to immunise all children below five years of age.
She further appealed to all concerned to extend support to the government's efforts in this regard.
B Sonamani urged district officers and staff to visit Anganwadi centres and every home to immunise all children below five years of age without fail as CMO Dr Indira explained that the programme was launched from the temporary shelter home as it housed the highest number of young children among the shelters in the district.
THOUBAL: Under the aegis of National Health Mission, District Health Society Thoubal and District Family Welfare Officer Thoubal jointly launched the National Immunisation Day (Polio Vaccination Programme) at the relief camp set up at Rice Research Station in Khangabok on Sunday under the theme of "Let the Victory over Polio Continue with Two Drops of Life" .
Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash, CMO Dr Y Nokul, ZEO-Thoubal Arambam Anilkumar and CDPO Lilong Irengbam Bijaya attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively, along with District Family Welfare officer Dr Kh Trusty and staff concerned.
DC Subash informed that apart from the Khangabok relief camp, pulse polio drops will be administered to children staying in relief camps under the district administration such as Lamding Higher Secondary School, and District Sports Complex, Wangjing Kodompokpi.
He also appealed to all local clubs and organisations and Meira Paibi bodies to extend their support in making the programme a success.
Health and Wellness Centre Yairipok Kekru also administered pulse polio drops to children under its jurisdiction.
The programme was attended by the staff of the centre, ASHAs, Aganwandi workers and helpers.
BISHNUPUR: Deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram launched the IPPI 2024 at Primary-Health Centre (PHC), Kwakta for Bishnupur district on Sunday.
The launch programme was organised by District Health Society & District Family Wel fare Bureau, Bishnupur, and attended by CMO Dr L Raichandra Singh, District Family Welfare officer Dr L Kuber Singh, DLOs, officials concerned, staff of the PHC, Anganwadi Workers, ANMs, parents and guardians of the children.
Speaking as the chief guest, the DC informed that launch of IPPI 2024 is being organised to encourage and motivate the public especially parents and guardians of children between 0-5 years to come to the booths and get their children administered the two drops of oral polio vaccine.
He urged the officials concerned and the parents to ensure that all children are vaccinated during the immunisation to protect them against polio.
He further stressed on the importance of timely immunization and said that parents and guardians should ensure that their children receive all the mandatory vaccines to safeguard them from diseases that can be prevented through vaccination.
For Bishnupur, around 20,000 children are aimed for administering the oral polio vaccine during the three-day immunisation programme.
District Health Society & District Family Welfare Bureau, Bishnupur has arranged 250 booths including 25 mobile teams for the campaign.
The immunisation will also cover more than 500 children from 47 relief camps in the district, he informed, adding that on March 4 and 5, there will be house-to-house IPPI activity to ensure that all the missed out children are vaccinated and no child is left unvaccinated.
NONEY: With the rest of nation, the National Immunization Day or IPPI 2024 was launched on Sunday at the premises of Noney Primary-Health Centre (PHC) by Noney CMO Dr Z Kamei, in the presence of DIO Dr Jendum Golmei and PHC MO in-charge Dr Gratia Kamei.
This programme will continue till March 5 in every health centre, with door-to-door or house-to-house visit by ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers.
The targeted number of children to be immunised for Noney is 6118 .
PHERZAWL: The National Immunization Day or IPPI 2024 was launched at CHC Parbung by MO in-charge Dr Thanglienzuol on Sunday.
District Health Society has set a vaccination target of about 1984 children between 0 to 5 years for IPPI 2024.Polio booths were arranged in all the health centres of the district including CHC Parbung, PHC Patpuihmun and PHSC Buangmun among others.
The drive will continue with door-to-door immunisation in the next two days.
