Assessment of destroyed properties underway

Maintaining that it is not the responsibility of the house owners to capture photos of their destroyed houses for compensation purposes, a top government official has stated that the government officials are carrying out assessment works in this regard in all the districts.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the official, acknowledged that some of the displaced people taking shelter in relief camps are posting comments on social media that government authorities have informed them to take photos of their destroyed houses in order to avail the compensation provided by the state government.
The comments on the social media surfaced due to misunderstanding and there is no such thing as such, the official clarified.
Speaking to this daily in this regard, the official informed that following a notification of the state's home department, the DCs concerned issued notifications on September 13 for making forms available for assessment of the properties destroyed during the communal violence so as to enable the victims receive compensation from the state government.
The official further informed that the assessment forms are being made available through the nodal officer concerned of the relief camps for those staying in the camps and for those who putting up with relatives and friends the forms may be had from the nearest SDO office or the office of the DC concerned.
The victims are to submit the filled up forms to the nearest SDO or DC concerned.
The forms have space for mentioning the names of the victims, addresses, house numbers, Aadhaar number or ID number, telephone number and FIR copy of the destroyed properties.
Trade and shop license number of the shops and vehicles destroyed should also be mentioned in the form.
In addition, the victims have been directed to draw the location and site of their houses and properties in the form, the official explained, adding that the forms received are being handed over to the respective districts of the victims and the assessment works taken up by the district administration staff in full swing.
The assessment team are to capture the photos and videos and submit their actual report of the assessment.
The victims are not supposed to take the photos and videos of the destroyed houses to get compensation from the government as circulated on social media, reiterated the official.
