Khongnangthaba University holds NEP workshop

Khongnangthaba University on Friday opened a Digital Multi Media Centre as well as organised a workshop on 'Implementation of NEP 2020: Way Forward' at its auditorium located at Khurai Konsam Leikai in Imphal East district.
Speaking on the occasion, Kongnangthaba University VC Prof N Joykumar informed that the private university offers post graduate courses under six departments including environmental science, English, history and others.
While stating that 40 PhD students are presently registered under the university, he further conveyed that in addition to inviting Southeast Asian lecturers, qualified local lecturers will be engaged for conducting classes.
The university already has an AYUSH department and a Nursing Institute, he added, while assuring to promote additional academic research for improving the economy of the state.
The VC then stressed the need for maintaining good relations with Southeast Asian countries.
The varsity will try its level best to address all the needs of the students, he said, while adding that the Digital Multi Media Centre will assist in exchanging ideas.
In his speech, IGNOU, New Delhi pro vice chancellor, Prof Kiran Hazarika stated that Manipur is a state with high potential.
He then said that students need to be well informed about the Southeast Asian countries so as to maintain good relations with the same, while remarking that both students and faculty play an important role in elevating a University to the national and global level.
He continued that University Grants Commission (UGC) is trying its best to bring changes to the education system, adding that NEP-2020 will help in producing capable future pillars of the world.
The workshop was also attended by Manipur University retired Prof W Nabakumar as member on the dais.
