Security forces recover WY tablets, arms

Imphal, March 10 2024:
Assam Rifles, BSF, Manipur Police and RAF recovered a carton stashed in bushes near the IB and Helipad area during a joint search operation conducted at Namkhai Veng, Moreh, Tengnoupal district, on March 9 .
In all, 20,000 WY tablets estimated to worth around Rs 1 crore were found inside the carton which has been handed over to Moreh Police Station for further action, according to PRO IGAR (S) .
Meanwhile, security forces on Sunday conducted search operation in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts resulting in recovery of arms, ammunition and explosives.
A statement of Manipur police control room informed that the search team in Kangpokpi district recovered one each 5.56 mm US-made M-16 assault rifle with magazine, 12-inch single bore barrel rifle, and No.36 HE hand grenade without detonator, 33 rounds of single bore and five fired cases, six 5.56 mm rounds, a combat pouch, a sling bag and an ammunition waist belt.
In Churachandpur district, a combined team recovered 11 SBBL guns, one 9 mm Pistol with magazine, three improvised heavy mortar (Pumpi) guns, four improvised heavy mortar (Pumpi) bombs and 17 rounds of 7.62 mm calibre weapon (Sniper), it informed.
