Imphal, March 10 2024:
The State unit of BJP has accused the Congress party of scheming to discredit the Central and State Governments through misleading narratives in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to the media at Thambal Shanglen at Nityaipat Chuthek today, BJP spokesman Elangbam Johnson said that the accusations thrown by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Alfred K Arthur against the party yesterday was misleading.
Saying that they have come across different political parties blaming the Government for the violence in Manipur on different occasions, the BJP spokesman added that the allegations raised by former Ukhrul MLA Alfred K Arthur, however, weren't based on facts and figures.
It won't be wrong to assume that BJP has done more for Manipur after the party formed the Government at the Centre in 2014 and in the State in 2017 given the record of INC history in Manipur, he added.
The stand of the INC leaders on updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and abrogating SoO pact with Kuki militant groups is also unclear, he said and added that levelling BJP as a communal party is a low-level politics.
