Imphal, March 10 2024:
The 15th annual conference of Wangkhem Local Council was held at its branch office, on Sunday.
The annual conference was attended by CPI Manipur member Mutum Shamungou, state secretary Leishangthem Thoiren, former secretary Laishram Sotinkumar and CPI state executive member S Sorojini as presidium members.
Speaking at the conference, L Sotinkumar contended that the double-engine BJP government is trying to cast a spell on the people of Manipur by inaugurating incomplete roads and bridges and laying foundations of lofty projects with an eye on drawing political mileage as the Lok Sabha election is round the corner.
Asking the BJP to give up making tall promises as the people are well aware about its ulterior motives, he suggested that central and state governments initiate measures effective enough to bring an end to the on-going crisis and restore peace in the state instead of taking the people for a ride.
Sotinkumar also regretted that the government has been repeatedly ignoring CPI's proposal for bringing peace and normalcy in the state through political means and dialogue process ever since outbreak of the violence in May last year.
