Imphal, July 25 2023:
The Rehabilitation Committee for Victimized Families of Manipur by Kuki Militants has urged the Government and other authorities concerned to consult them before taking up any rehabilitation measures for Meitei people whose houses have been burnt down by Kuki militants.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Federation of Civil Societies Organisation (FOCS) at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal this afternoon, Ningthoukhongjam Phulindro, chairman of the Committee for Victimized Families of Manipur by Kuki Militants said that the committee was formed after holding a meeting at the office of FOCS.
He said that the meeting was attended by representatives of people displaced from Moreh, Churachandpur, Torbung and other places whose houses have been burnt down by Kuki militants and their associates.
If all the rehabilitation works are done by officials who usually work on tables, there is a strong possibility of many victims left out of the rehabilitation measures, Phulindro said.
He then appealed to the Government to consult the Committee for Victimized Families of Manipur by Kuki Militants before taking up any rehabilitation measures in order to avoid any possible lapses and implement all rehabilitation measures in a comprehensive manner.
