Condemnation continues on viral video incident

The Tangkhul Naga Overseas Community (TNOC) condemned the barbaric and heinous act committed by the Meitei mob against two Kuki-Zo women, who were stripped naked, paraded publicly and molested on May 4, 2023 .
A press note by the Media Cell, TNOC said, 'Such inhuman behaviour against fellow human beings, especially women in this 21st century is incomprehensible, intolerable, and is condemnable by any civilized citizens and nations' .
TNOC while expressing solidarity to the victims of the disgraceful act appealed to all 'to stand together, regardless of our tribe's community or nationality, to protect the rights and safety of all women' .
With regards to the ethnic violence which erupted on May 3, TNOC urged the political leaders, law enforcement agencies and the judicial system to expedite the investigation and ensure that the perpetrator(s) are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Further it called upon all community members to unite in support of survivors and become allies in the fight against sexual violence and restoring peace and trust in Manipur.
Zeme Naga Council, Manipur also condemned in strongest terms over the ugly incident of parading two innocent Kuki-Zo women naked by a mob on May 4 .
In a press release, Zeme Naga Council, Manipur president Apung Daime said that, 'the beastly act right under the nose of the law has wrecked beyond protection the prestige and dignity of our sister and mother' .
The Council further demanded that the perpetrators of the crime should be given maximum punishment as per the law of the land to ensure that justice is delivered and such acts are not committed in future.
The Council also urged the Central and State Government to resolve the ongoing conflict at the earliest.
The Council further extended solidarity to the victims and their family members of the unfortunate incident and also shared the condolence of the bereaved family members killed in the incident.
