KSA demands resignation of education commissioner, director

While observing that the education sector in the state seems to be headless at the juncture, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) demanded resignation of education commissioner and director for alleged failure to discharge their mandated duty and responsibility.
In a release, KSA publicity secretary P Ranjan said that some private schools are levying tuition fees for May and June, during which the schools were closed and further questioned whether there is any ground to disprove that the schools value profit-earning more than people's movement.
He further demanded clarification whether the private schools will cease to exist if the tuition fees for the two months are not collected.
Highlighting the distress and sufferings faced by the people owing to the persistent attacks by Kuki militants, the secretary condemned the private schools' policy of collecting tuition fees for the months during which no regular classes were conducted.
Further expressing suspicion that the government reopened the schools to aid the private schools to extract the tuition fees, he condemned the reopening of schools in haste before issuing appropriate guidelines and without relocating the paramilitary forces stationed inside campuses of the schools and colleges.
P Ranjan also informed that KSA had submitted a memorandum to the Education (S) commissioner regarding the matter and forwarded copy of the same to the director and the education minister, but without any response till date.
Education (S) commissioner and director shall have to should the responsibility in case of any unwanted incidents, he cautioned and reiterated the demand for resignation of the duo for failing to carry out their responsibilities.
