Imphal, July 25 2023:
Reacting against the rally in Mizoram supporting demand of the Kukis in Manipur with its chief minister Zoramthanga taking part in it and rallyists using placards that demeaned Manipur chief minister N Biren, volunteers of Meitei Students' Association (MSA) set on fire effigy of Zoramthanga in front of MU gate at Canchipur on Tuesday.
Volunteers of MSA, in addition to burning the effigy of Zoramthanga for his interference in the internal affairs of Manipur and for supporting the demand of Kukis in Manipur amid the crisis situation, also burnt the photo of Zoramthanga while he was leader of Mizo National Front (MNF) clad in combat dress and wielding an AK rifle.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, MSA president Nekel Haobijam decried that the chief minister of Mizoram has been interfering in the internal affairs of Manipur since day one of the ethnit violence and is continuing to incite the Kuki-Chin communities with his participation in the rally held in Mizoram on Tuesday.
